Event Notes
After their father died suddenly in the fall of 1995, sisters Susan and Nancy took joint care of their mother Dorothy, who had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Over four months, the sisters kept a journal, documenting the progression of the disease, their secret fears, anything they could not say in front of their mother. These few months would change the course of their lives for good.
Dorothy is the true story of a daughter’s experience caring for her mother as she slowly slips away. Three generations of women grapple with the lifelong implications of illness in this two-person show, performed by real life mother and daughter duo Susan and Randi.
Featuring found object puppetry, shadow puppetry, and verbatim text from the actual journal, this touching and uplifting new work from Vancouver’s Jessie Richardson Award winning Little Onion Puppet Co. asks us how do we move forward when our mothers are gone.
All ages, adult themes. Run Time: 60minutes, no intermission.
