Raiden Taiko 20 - A Cultural Collaboration

An all-ages event

In 2004, a small group of enthusiastic dreamers cobbled together some Rubbermaid® trash bins, an inverted metal bucket, and a supply of sawed-off broomsticks. From those humble beginnings, their love of the art of Japanese drumming began. Raiden Taiko was formed under the umbrella of the Kamloops Japanese Canadian Association. To celebrate our 20th anniversary, a talented group of musicians, dancers and vocalists has been assembled to bring you Raiden Taiko 20 - A Cultural Collaboration.

You may have seen and heard Raiden Taiko perform at signature events like Canada Day, TRU international days, BC Games and many local fundraisers. Raiden Taiko 20 - A Cultural Collaboration represents a significant milestone in our history. It brings together traditional and contemporary dance, children’s vocals, traditional Japanese musical instruments and of course…the powerful, unmistakable sound of TAIKO drums!

See the next generation of talented drummers and other artists at Kamloops’ premier performing arts venue! We are also delighted to introduce Vernon Taiko, a new group we have had the privilege to mentor along their own musical journey.
